Telugu Movies on OTT in August 2026 and Where to Watch Them

So far in August 2026 there have been 8 releases from Telugu in streaming with the 9th arriving on the 27th. They are on 6 different platforms and that’s the awkward part of the month.

Of those releases, the best reviews went to Chennai Love Story which is on SonyLIV. Lenin gave Akhil Akkineni his first ₹50 crore film and that’s on ZEE5. Neither is on the service you are already paying for.

This is a release guide, not a review. So every verdict on a film below names the critic it came from. Dates, platforms and ratings were checked on 26 August 2026.

The best reviewed Telugu film this month

Chennai Love Story began streaming on SonyLIV on 21 August in Telugu along with Tamil, Hindi, Kannada and Malayalam versions.

Kiran Abbavaram and Sri Gouri Priya are the lead cast. Ravi Namburii directed from a story by Sai Rajesh Neelam and Mani Sharma scored it. The film ran 179 minutes in theatres from 24 July. That is quite long for a romance and the reviews also divided on this point.

The Times of India lauded the movie as a tale of love, loss, and healing that lingers. It gave it 3.5 stars. Gulte was more critical, giving it a score of 2.75. They noted that the second half of the movie lacked writing, while the first half, coupled with the background score of Mani Sharma, was superior. Both praised the leads, showing the same opinion for the month’s Telugu movie releases.

The one everyone watched anyway

Zee5 released Lenin on the 7th of August throughout Telugu, Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam.

Based on the title character, the movie is a rural action drama where first we see the year 1976 as we travel to Chittoor with its Draupadi festivities at the center. Bhagyashri Borse co-stars. Murali Kishor Abburu wrote and directed it along with Thaman doing the background score. Nagarjuna and Naga Vamsi did the production. The length of the movie is 159 minutes.

Average scores reflected the movie. Idlebrain’s Jeevi scored the movie at 2.75 of 5 and praised the photography in particular.

Sacnilk has the worldwide gross past the ₹61 crore mark, making Lenin the first Akhil Akkineni film to reach ₹50 crore since he began taking lead roles in 2015. Thus, there is no reason to watch it based on the reviews. It is because Akhil has made films as the lead for eleven years to cross this milestone, and he has finally done so with Lenin.

What has arrived and what is still coming

This is what the whole month with the one still to come. Anything marked as a dub was made in some other language and has an audio track in Telugu.

I, Nobody arrived on 25 August as scheduled. Newton’s 3rd Law is on 27 August, and therefore has not been released to streaming services as I write this.

Newton’s 3rd Law is important to mention because it is not actually a straight to streaming premiere, the way the platform’s branding suggests. Sumanth and Jagapathi Babu star with Srinivas Avasarala and this film is Rajesh Karna’s first as writer and director. It released in theaters on the 31st of July and 123telugu gave it a review of 2.5 out of 5. ETV Win is releasing it on the 27th.

Srinivasa Mangapuram received bad reviews across the board. Directed by Ajay Bhupathi, it is Jai Krishna Ghattamaneni’s first film and Rasha Thadani’s first in Telugu. It also features Mohan Babu in a lead cast. 123telugu gave it a score of 2.75, Indian Express gave it 2.5, and Gulte gave it 2. We checked Prime Video’s page on August 26th and found that it had a score of 4.9 on IMDb.

Six platforms, one month, and what that costs you

Of the six streaming services, Prime Video offers the biggest prize for customers this month. It has three out of the eight Telugu films that have been released this month. These include Oh..! Sukumari, Mister Middle Class, and Srinivasa Mangapuram. Prime’s annual membership costs Rs 1499.

Chennai Love Story and Lenin remain on SonyLIV and ZEE5, while Prime has neither. aha and Sun NXT have Mr. Work From Home, where aha has Mister Middle Class. ETV Win has Newton’s 3rd Law. No single subscription is enough for August.

The only advice we can give is to buy the service you want to watch the movie from, watch it, and then you can cancel your subscription to avoid spending the whole year with five or six services.

What is not streaming

The Paradise, has not yet been released in the theaters. It is going for a worldwide theatrical release on 24 September 2026, after it was dated for a release in March and then in August. And it is reported that Netflix already holds the post-theatrical streaming rights.

Irumudi was also released in theaters on 21 August. Sources say that Netflix acquired the film’s post-theatrical streaming rights for around ₹14 crore before the film was even released. But still has not announced the streaming date.

Toxic, the Yash film, was released in theaters on Wednesday the 26th. There has been no announcement on streaming the film.

Still worth watching from July

For July, if you are short on August, there are two films.

Peddi, which Netflix added on 9 July (in Tamil, Kannada, Telugu and Malayalam, with the Hindi Up on 30 July), was a much bigger hit, at least according to Sacnilk and the Hindustan Times, who reported a theatrical gross of ₹338.98 Cr, which is about five times what Lenin took.

Rao Bahadur, added to Netflix on 31 July, is a psychological drama directed by Venkatesh Maha. Satyadev Kancharana plays a dying aristocrat consumed by a single doubt.
