Prime Video India has combined three services into a single application and the chart reflects that. On 21 August, the three most popular titles were Playground, Made in India: A Titan Story and Governor. Two of these three titles are free and do not require a subscription.
This is not a glitch. Amazon combined Amazon MX Player with Prime Video. So one app now features free ad-supported content, content behind a subscription and content for pay-to-rent. A chart position no longer indicates the cost of a title.
Start with these three titles, which are the best reviewed of the month’s actual releases:
- Vadhandhi: The Mystery of Mani has eight episodes of a Tamil language police procedural set in Madurai, from the creators of Season 1.
- Reacher, season 4 is definitely the most popular one. This is the most viewed on Prime Video globally and is released in episodes on a weekly basis as opposed to a complete season released at once.
- Sterling Point is the title most will not have heard of. It is a teen mystery that is directed by the same person who directed My Old Ass and has positive reviews.
This is more of a release guide as compared to a review. Every opinion below is attributed to the critic or the source that made it. The availability of each title was checked for Prime Video India on 22 August 2026.
The three best reviewed
Vadhandhi: The Mystery of Mani
The series has eight episodes in Tamil which are written and directed by Andrew Louis.
In the series, M. Sasikumar stars as SI Moosa Raza who is working on a case in Madurai. The other cast members are Yashwanth, Anagha Maruthora, Aparna Das, Vivek Prasanna, Revathy Sharma and Arjun Nandhakumar. The production is under the banner of Wallwatcher Films with Pushkar and Gayatri as the creative producers.
Reviews of this version have been more favourable than with the 2022 series. The playing of the role by Sasikumar, more controlled and letting the case be the focal point, is a positive feature.
Reacher, season 4
Three episodes of season four were released on the 12th of August 2026 and the others will arrive weekly. The fourth episode was released on the 19th of August, with the fifth episode expected on the 26th and the remaining episodes to be released in September.
Regarding this season of Reacher, Alan Ritchson returns to the role of Jack Reacher. The first episode begins with Reacher on a subway with a stranger carrying a flash drive. Metacritic has the critics mostly positive on this season. While the user reviews are more mixed.
It was ranked first by FlixPatrol on Prime Video on 21 August making it the most streamed release of the month.
Sterling Point
It was added on August 5 in English with all episodes of Season 1. It is created by Megan Park. Ella Rubin plays a seventeen year old living in New York. She inherits a Canadian island from a grandfather she barely knew, along with a sister she did not know existed. It also stars Jay Duplass, Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Keen Ruffalo.
According to Metacritic and IMDb when checked on 22 August, reviews are generally positive and it was at ‘7.4’.

What each of those actually costs you
The three at the top of the India chart sit on three different terms and the app does not make that clear.
Playground is free. Season 5 of this series premiered on 1st August with ads-supported streaming on MX Player by Prime Video. Elvish Yadav is a mentor and you do not need a subscription to watch it.
Made in India: A Titan Story is also free with ads. While this is not an August release, it premiered on 3rd June with six episodes. It is directed by Robbie Grewal and written by Karan Vyas. It stars Naseeruddin Shah and Jim Sarbh and the series is based on Vinay Kamath’s book about the rise of Titan.
Governor was released in theaters on 12 June 2026 and in July it was released at a rental price and added to the subscription list on 7 August. That is when Prime Video India pushed it for streaming. In this film Manoj Bajpayee plays a newly appointed RBI Governor trying to stop a national bankruptcy.
Governor is directed by Chinmay D. Mandlekar. Reviews were mixed and the praise that did come went mostly to Bajpayee. A rental option is still listed alongside it. If you skipped Governor when it was priced at ₹349 (a rental price) in July, it is worth considering again because it is not priced at ₹349 anymore.
Still worth watching from July
Adarsh Baal Vidyalaya was released on 24 July 2026 and it is an Amazon Original Comedy Drama in Hindi.
